Ferring Country Centre Children's Tractor Track

Ferring Country Centre is an independent charity based in West Sussex, providing training and work experience for people with learning disabilities. Theories Landscapes were commissioned to design and build a small toddler tractor course on an unused part of the Dales Farm area of the Country Centre.
The client was keen to provide a farm attraction that was safe and simple but engaging for the children and within the confines of an already fenced off area.
Theories worked with the client and produced a concept including:
- Rubber mulch for the tractor track. This is a recycled material, consistent in height, long lasting with little or no maintenance and inherently safe in the event of a fall.
- Artificial grass which is low maintenance, inherently safe and provides the consistent level height needed between the grass and the track surface – without needing the constant care and cutting that real grass would require.
Theories selected Perfectly Green Diablo synthetic turf which is a very popular 35mm grass for homes, gardens, playgrounds, and other applications. Diablo is also tested and accredited as suitable for critical fall height up to 3m.
We supply a variety of artificial grass surfaces for playground projects including landscaping grasses, coloured grass options, plus the necessary safety systems required where high level play equipment is present.
